Some might say she is a glutton for punishment, but following on from last year’s marathon, Lisa is doing another!
After completing the London Marathon last year, Lisa put in her entry the very next day to try and secure her place in this year’s event. However her ballot was unsuccessful, so she contacted Cancer Research and elected to run another marathon in April, this time in Brighton.
Cancer has touched Lisa’s family deeply, with the sad loss of a very close relative, her Uncle and Godfather, in December 2016. In addition, she has had many other family members, friends and clients who have also suffered from this devastating disease.
The statistics are frightening: 1 in 2 people in the UK will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime and whilst medical technology has advanced over the years, unfortunately in some cases (like that of Lisa’s Uncle) further treatment is declined because it is seen as futile and for others, the most they can hope for is a few extra years. Knowing so many people who have suffered with cancer, supporting Cancer Research means a lot to Lisa.
Lisa has set up an online sponsorship page accessed via this link: fundraise.cancerresearchuk.org/page/lisas-marathon-2020
Any donation will be greatly appreciated, so please donate whatever you can and together we can help make a difference in the lives of others.
